Cardio looks different for everyone. For some, it means structured classes. For others, it’s running, dancing, or simply finding time to move consistently. Through RX: Cardio, we highlight how heart-healthy movement supports energy, confidence, and everyday life, and how consistency matters more than intensity.


For Emily Bowman, cardio is about variety, community, and showing up. She stays active through several classes at BMC Wellness, but Cardio Jam remains a staple in her routine.


“One of the best things you can do for your heart,” Emily shares. Her cardiologist encouraged her to keep moving, reminding her that movement truly is medicine.


As American Heart Month approaches, Emily’s story is a reminder that caring for your heart doesn’t have to be complicated. Cardio Jam allows her to elevate her heart rate, move at her own pace, and stay consistent in a way that feels sustainable.


Beyond the physical benefits, Emily values the social connection that comes with attending fitness classes. “Sometimes it’s the only people you see all day,” she says, “but it’s good for you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.” She also appreciates the range of options available, from Senior Strength and Full Body Strength to the occasional dance class.


“We’re very fortunate to have a facility like this in such a small community,” Emily shares. “Many people have to travel far and pay much more to access the kind of resources we have right here.”


Cardio Support at BMC Wellness

RX: Cardio at BMC Wellness is supported through a variety of classes and opportunities designed for all fitness levels. Members can participate in group classes like Cardio Jam, enjoy open fitness floor access, or explore a mix of cardio-focused and strength-based options to keep movement enjoyable and balanced.


Cardio Jam meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:15am, welcoming all fitness levels and encouraging members to move at their own pace in a supportive environment.


Our fitness spaces are designed to support safe movement, consistency, and confidence. Whether your goal is heart health, stress relief, or building a routine you can maintain, RX: Cardio offers flexibility and encouragement every step of the way.

Cardio for Every Day Life

For Scarlett Ratliff, cardio is part of feeling like herself. After realizing the Wellness Center was a fitness facility, she chose to begin coming regularly with her daughter. Running and strength training quickly became part of her routine.


“I don’t feel like myself unless I come three times a week,” Scarlett shares.


Cardio at BMC Wellness has helped Scarlett manage stress, build consistency, and enjoy movement in different ways, from running to Barre and Yoga. Along the way, her daughter learned to swim through our swimming lessons and now enjoys joining her for floor workouts before heading to Kids Club.


“Exercising here helps to alleviate stress. I'm addicted to it.”
