Diabetes

Support & Education

The two most common types of diabetes are known as
Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
Anyone can develop diabetes, but you have a higher risk if:

  • You are overweight

  • You are female

  • You are over the age of 45

  • You don’t exercise regularly

  • You have a family history of diabetes

  • You are African American

  • You are a woman who has had a baby weighing nine pounds or more at birth

Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes:

If you have any of the following diabetes symptoms, see your doctor about getting your

blood sugar tested:

  • Urinate (pee) a lot, often at night

  • Are very thirsty

  • Lose weight without trying

  • Are very hungry

  • Have blurry vision

  • Have numb or tingling hands or feet

  • Feel very tired

  • Have very dry skin

  • Have sores that heal slowly

  • Have more infections than usual

Class 1: Understanding Diabetes and it's Effects

Class 2: Checking Your Sugar and Managing Readings

Class 3: Healthy Eating and Meal Planning

Class 4: Movement is Medicine and Diabetic Support

Bring with you if you can:

  • List of current medications

  • Insurance Card

  • List of medical diagnosis or recent lab work

  • 1 family member is welcome to attend
